PUBLIC SAFETY
Crime is the number one issue in the district and will require addressing the symptoms and root causes. We need to fix bail reform, increase funding for comprehensive social services, increase enforcement, and reduce the concentration of facilities. Addressing affordable housing, homelessness, addiction, and mental health will be critical.
FINANCIAL CRISIS
Albany is facing a financial crisis in the middle of a looming recession and high Inflation, hiding the damage by utilizing budgetary accounting tricks to balance the budget. New York State has the second highest income taxes rates, is one of the few states with estate taxes, and has an unfriendly business environment. With local businesses struggling, joblessness remains higher than in other parts of the country— millions are leaving the state, lowering our tax base. Albany’s missteps during the pandemic have made matters worse. With federal aid ending, it will leave the state in a dire financial state.
QUALITY OF LIFE
The district and the State face numerous issues requiring comprehensive and integrated solutions. We need to reduce taxes, address the lack of affordable housing, and increase programs proven to work.
REVITALIZING NYS THROUGH THE ARTS
Arts, culture, and tourism are essential to revitalizing the 75th Assembly District. Art inspires young and old, stimulates imagination, boosts self-esteem, and stimulates dopamine release – art and culture are good for the soul, reducing crime and improving neighborhood quality of life and the economy.
